Abra: Gayuma

I am very picky when it comes to rap music specially those written in Filipino. Now don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't like the language, it's just that most rap written in Tagalog usually lacks the class and the right vibe.

A lot of Tagalog rap usually has a lot of cursing and swearing which I don't find appealing. But then again here comes the likes of Gloc9 who takes Filipino rap into a whole new level, but I am not gonna talk about Gloc9 now!

Call me a late bloomer or something but as funny as it may seem I just discovered this guy, Abra. I like the way he wrote down this song about "gayuma" which is like a magic potion that would make someone fall under the spell of the one who had him drink it.

It's nice that he collaborated with other artist on this song that gave that very urban vibe and generally acceptable melody. I guess. Well it passed on to my taste I think it would yours too.

Zendee Rose Guests In The Ellen De Generes Show

Anther Filipino makes it to the Ellen de Generes show!

She was a girl who ventured out to the jungle of Manila and tried her luck on a singing contest -where she was later eliminated- with just a few bucks in her pocket.

While here in Manila she lived in a fire station to cut the costs and goes to the mall during the day time because they can't stay at the fire station.

A youtuber chanced upon Zendee while singing and uploaded the video in youtube and now here she is at the Ellen De Generes Show guesting.

I hope she could make it big as well like Charice.

A fun number with tony

X Factor Philippines Champion: KZ Tandingan

It has been a while since I have heard somebody like this and it KZ truly brings a new high to the Music scene here in the Philippines if not globally.

I bet she would go international in no time. So with that said, let me share my top three favorite Kz Tandingan songs from XFactor Philippines in no particular order, these are the songs that I could listen to over and over.

#3 Kisapmata, here KZ puts more soul and turns this rock song into a uber romatic song.

#2 Make You Feel My Love. KZ once again shows that less is more. get blown away by KZ's redintion of this popular Adele song.

#1 In The End. The best rendition of KZ totally made into her own version. Linkin Park would be so happy to hear this version.

Bamboo, Magic 89.9 FM Acoustic Performance

From being part of Rivermaya, Bamboo has gone a long way now. And yes I am one of his biggest fans! I love the way he writes his songs and composes his music. I don't know if it is me because I don't hear much radio anymore because of work and gets my music and entertainment online, but Bamboo seems to a little low profile for an artist.

Bamboo's taste when it comes to music appeals to me specially the strings component of it, I never get tired of listening to them.

So let me share to you my latest find in Youtube, Bamboo's mini concert performance in Magic 89.9 Boy's Night Out.

Enjoy!

GLOC-9 feat. Ebe Dancel "Sirena" Music Video

GLOC-9's latest single's video has just been launched. I was actually surprised with the theme of the song, the way it was delivered and straight guys singing about the it. This is something refreshing.

On his post in his facebook account GLOC-9 said "Napanood ito ng isang bisita namin kanina nung una akala ko di sya naapektuhan pero laking gulat ko nang matapos ang kanta nakita ko sya umiiyak:)"

Lyrics
[Featuring: Ebe Dancel]

[Chorus: Ebe Dancel]
Ako’y isang sirena
Kahit anung sabihin nila
Ako ay ubod ng ganda
Ako’y isang sirena
Kahit anong gawin nila

[1sr Verse: Gloc-9]

[Chorus: Ebe Dancel]
Ako’y isang sirena
Kahit anung sabihin nila
Ako ay ubod ng ganda
Ako’y isang sirena
Kahit anong gawin nila

[2nd Verse: Gloc-9]
Hanggang sa naging binata na ako,
Teka muna mali dalaga na pala to

[Chorus: Ebe Dancel]
Ako’y isang sirena
Kahit anung sabihin nila
Ako ay ubod ng ganda
Ako’y isang sirena
Kahit anong gawin nila

[Last Verse: Gloc-9]
Kaya sayong kaarawan susubukan kong palitan

Kahit anong gawin nila
Bandera ko’y di tutumba..

Christian Bautista: Nagiisang Bituin

Christian Bautista sings another beautiful song from the sound track of ABS-CBN's soap opera Princess and I which it self is another world class production.

In a time when most songs usually use the same set of words hearing this songs is so refreshing for OPM lovers.

I just hope that more musicians would write more original songs with fresh lyrics, this I think is what we are lacking of here in the music industry in the Philippines. I mean it gets tiring to listen to what you say as new music but same old set of words used. right?

So here's the lyric video of Christian Bautista's new song Nagiisang Bituin.

Alessandra De Rossi: Make It Better (New Music Video)

Finally Alessandra De Rossi has launched a full music video of one of her songs entitled Make It Better which is my personal favorite.

Alessandra has made a following already for her music through the social media and video sharing site Youtube. Some of the comments in the site include "Kung sino pa yung hindi singer siya pa yung interesting ang music" which is quite true as she is the first one (as far as I know who has created such genre in the local music scene)

The music video is very good except for the some parts that I didn't like, the water scene and the scene where she was in between two bamboos. I didn't like the water scene kase di masyadong malinis yung pagkakagawa. I wish that they just focused more on the sand dunes scenes and made more shots of the last frames where alessandra was so angelic and had her sing then spread it throughout the video. Otherwise it was perfect for me.

But still nothing changed. The song is still awesome!

So here it is..... Make It Better by Alessandra De Rossi

Mamayug Akun (MSU)

I remember from way back when.... This is one of the hardest pieces we've ever sung as a group. Though this a different arrangement which I would say is much more appropriate instead of the war chant type singing since this is actually a love song.

And MSU also did a wonderful job with the entrance.

Kudos to MSU!

Here now is the arrangement that we did ( this is not my group but this is the exact same arrangement)

Nothing: David DiMuzio

In this season (hopefully this time is just passing by) of revivals it is ironic to see and hear a foreigner singing originally composed songs in Tagalog or Taglish. So where are the Filipino composers?

Let's follow the lead of this foreigner in reviving Filipino music.... Wow.... that sounded really weird.

Waka Waka

I've always thought that Shakira's song for the World Cup was an all original and brand new composition specially made for the occasion.

That is until a friend of mine who recently came from a round the world trip posted this on facebook.

and here is Shakira's version for the world cup.

So what do you think is the better version? Well for me nothing beats either both are beautiful in their own right for their own purpose =)

ArtistInFocus: Krissy and Ericka

Compared to the united states who produced a lot of musicians (indie) after youtube took off the Philippines has a few of Indie artists who made it to main stream because of youtube.

One of them is the charming yet electrifying duo of Krissy and Ericka with their hit single 12:51. Undeniably there's still a huge potential for this duo to make it bigger in the international scene. In fact they just recently finished touring Southeast Asia with another Filipino youtube sensation from the U.S. AJ Rafael.

Watch out for this two duo, with some more hard work and more originals they are gonna conquer the international music scene in no time!
